When i shift my 99 cherokee into 4 wheel drive no 4x4 light comes on.Is this light suppose to come on? Is there a sensor that i need to replace on the transfer case?

crawl under and pull the 2 pin connector off the top of the tcase. Jump the wires with a paperclip or something and then turn the key "on". if the light comes on you need a new switch (15 at autozone, easy fix). IF it doesnt come on you need a new bulb or you have a short.
