Hello all..At one time I had a complete Rustys OffRoad 4.5" lift kit for my Jeep (Used one I got cheap) For reasons beyond my control it never got installed and then gas got so high I wouldn`t install it when I had the time...I'm thinking of installing it now but the rear shocks have disappeared..I work at a truck parts place so can get shocks at cost but need to know some sort of size/model to go by..The Rustys site just has their model number for the shocks and I can't cross that to any name brand ones..Can anyone provide me with an equivilant name brand part # of a shock that would be appropriate for a 4.5" lift?..Thanks in advance

IIRC pro-comp size for mine, w/ ~4.5" was an ES9000 gas charged 924509...that breaks down as follows: 9 is the series, 24.5 is the extended length in inches, 0 refers for eye-eye style mount, and the 9 is the installation kit ( 9=generic/all)

Also from memory, I think its the same sized shock found under the rear of Chevy 1/2 tons from the late 90's....

hope that helps

Thanks ..I'll look into that shock number at work tomorrow..I looked at the Parts America website and see that the shocks for the 94 Cherokee and the 98 C1500 Chevy pick-up mount the same way so I think you are correct in thinking they are the same

running shocks for a 1/2 ton pickup on a less than 1/4 ton SUV will be like running steel beams for shocks

True..But if I can determine that the shocks are indeed the same basic length/mount I can come up with a part number and then just find a less beefy shock of that size

The shocks that came with my Rusty's 4.5 lift kit have a 14" tube. That is size all the way around. Not sure of actual manufacturer or P/N but, they are the shocks that came with the kit straight from Rusty's.
