well, i was originally going go 32's on 4.5" lift. however, recent events have led everyone i go wheelin with to go bigger, like 37's on my friends rubi. id like to keep up, and really like huge tires anyway, on a 6.5" lift would i be able to fit 35's without trimming?

in order to fit 35's without trimming on a 6.5" lift you will have to bumpstop about 7.5"
and then you will still probably rub.

the wheel openings are simply not large enough to fit a 35" tire.

no matter how much lift you have the only thing from keeping your tires from eating your fenders is bumpstops (or if you are cheap, shocks)

Why dont you want to trim it? There are ways of trimming that dont look like hack jobs. Doing so and bumpstopping properly will allow you to run what you want. I run a 4.5 RE lift and plan on running 35s. I do however have to upgrade my gearing and do an SYE first, but 35s are the goal.

then you are stuck with small tires
back in the day i had 32's with a 5" lift. they rubbed on flat ground when turning.

HeavyMetal and 93XJLI, Do either of you have a thread in the XJ Write Ups section about how to properly trim wheel wells to fit 35s with a 6" lift or smaller, and have it look good? I've got a 5.5-6" lift and it's time to buy new tires. I've been looking at all kinds of 33s but, everything I've looked at is available in a 35 and they're only 10-20 dollars more per tire. I'm really seriously considering skipping the 33s and going on up to 35s. My other question is do 35s work well with 4.56 gears or is that not enough gear? I don't have the funds to do a gear change to 4.88s, right now.

honestly, going slow with a dremel and reinforced cutting wheel for the front then topping it off with a flap disc looks best. sure it takes a while but its worth it.

i followed this

http://www.rocklizardfabrications.co...r_trimming.htm

and i know plenty of people running 4.56s with 35s w/o an issue, heavymetal being one of them

yeah i run 4.56s with 35s, no complaints...the difference between 4.88 and 4.56 is hardly anything, its just 1/3 of a driveshaft turn per tire revolution when you break it down. better highway gears if anything..i just ran 33s for 2 years on em, so that explains why i have the gears, then stepped up to 35s. if i started fresh id prob do 4.88s just cuz i could, but otherwise its not really worth worrying about

and what XJLI said holds true, i used a dremel way back when, i taped the area over with painters tape to prevent chipping and such when i did it and just cut through that...came out clean as can be. toss some small door edge molding on there for extra bling smoothness.

im not patient, and i used an angle grinder and chopped it off in a couple minutes.

then i made a fresh cut opening up the wheel wells with a dremel and reinforced wheel.

glad i made it blinger, but it doesnt matter anymore now that i have some 1/8" thick fenders

I used a nibbler. You be the judge of how the cuts look. In all honesty though, as long as youre careful and take your time, you can use just about anything
