Not Funny
Truthfully I dont think the fact of having a 4.5 inch lift would be funny to say the least with 31 inch tires. I personally wud favor such a build due to the fact you have more room to articulate and less tire is being tucked under your fenders. The only thing here I would worry about is make dam sure you have bum stops installed because you will probably hit your frame rail on your axle having this much difference in space. Though I guess that would also depend on whether or not you have an aftermarket track bar and disconnected sway bars to allow you to articulate more. Had I had the funds I would have done this to my jeep, currently just running a 3 inch sadly. Oh well no big deal I will eventualy get the 4.5 but by the time I get that I may swap it for an 8 inch and put 35s on it. With that being said I suppose I should get my axles changed as 35s might burn my gears in my 8.25. LOL

Axle hitting the frame? 35s burning up your gears? 8 inch"?
BTT I've done it and it looks goofy. I ran 32s and 4" and that looked good to me.

Found this pic. It is exactly what I have with 31s.... I dont think it looks that bad.
I dont think it looks bad either, in fact I would go as far as cutting off the fender flares, raise the fender wells and reattach bush flares. The more room the merrier I am.

Well, I also have an ax-15 with 3.07 gears.... 31s would be questionable with these gears.... 32s are almost out of the question. I agree that 32s look better, but id prefer not to drop down into 3rd to make it up the average hill. Plus, I found a killer deal on 31s haha.

Have a RE 4.5 with 31x10.50x15 BFG Muds. Had to do some minor trimming on the front fenders to stop some rubbing. If you are trying not to do a lot of trimming this is the way to go.

31's look fine, plenty of room to flex if you don't feel like trimming. And not too noticeable of a power loss with stock gears.
