Question 3" lift 32" tires...good idea?

so i got my 3" lift kit in and a friend of mine had a jeep but wrecked it and has 32" all terrain tires. i want to put them on cuz they look badass. i dont do too much wheelin and im wondering if ill have to trim a ton and if it will be a horrible ride (which i dont care its a jeep) but i wanna know some of your opinions from first hand experience and decide from however many of you are gonna say " do it" "put them bad boys on there" " trim and bumpstop accordingly" so anyways any answers to this/ pics would help. ive already seen the tire/ lift thread but it doesnt say if anyone with 3" lift 32" tires had problems with rubbing/worries about any other parts being changed or ruined...

thanks in advance for any help

I recently put a set of 32"s on my 2.5in lift. I do not have any problems with regular road driving. I have not had the chance to test it out on the trail yet though. I am trimmed and bump stopped already though. The only thing I can really think of is having the proper back spaced wheels.

do it, you will have no problem. take your fender flares off and trim a bit at the bottom. you'll be good

just make sure when you get new rims to get something in the 4.50 to 3.75 backspacing it will help to keep the tires from rubbing the lower control arms

yeah cuz the tires he has will fit on my stock 15 x 7s. im mainly going for alotta mean looks and so-so off road performance. i had the worst time putting in the lift kit by myself so i dont want to do an incredible amount of work on it. even tho i said i wasnt going to do anything to it when i got it stock haha

First, the idea of backspacing is not what most people originally assume it means. Simply put, backspacing is the distance from the inner lip of the wheel (lip closest to the center of the vehicle) to where the wheel bolts to the axle. Think of it, roughly, as the amount of axle that is covered by the wheel once the wheel bolted on. So, 5.5 inches of backspacing puts the entire wheel/tire assembly closer to the center of the vehicle than 3 inches of backspacing would (by 1.5 inches). Zero backspacing would mean that the wheel would be zero inches inside of the axle-mounting point (I don't even think 0 backspacing is possible...)

Maybe this link helps too http://www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?article=40

As far as the 32's, I would be more concerned about the loss of gearing than the tire fitment. You can trim ect. to fit the 32's without doing anything crazy, but if you have 3.55's (likely if you have an automatic) it will be driveable, but not fun. If you have the AX-15 (probably has 3.07's) I can tell you it would be a total dog unless you went to 4.10's or even 4.56. Hope this helps.
