M ordering a Spartan locker this week and want to know if I can tell what axle spline count I have without taking a shaft out and counting. The build date I'd 10/96 thanks!

Hard to say, I think they started using 29 spline in some 06/96 XJ's.

You could have either, I'm leaning more towards a 29, but best be safe and count them.

I guess to be safe I should take one out and count it. I'd hate to drain the gear lube just to have to drain it again if I had the wrong Spartan. Thanks again

Seems like a 10-96 build date would be a '97 model. Were '97 models late coming out?
