265/70/15 on stock jeep???
hey im looking to get new tires, and I have heard that 30/9.50 will fit on a stock jeep but will rub some on the trails, but I was wondering if it would be possible to fit 265/70 r15's on a stock jeep, that's a 29.6 inch tall, 10.4 inch wide tire. And also, I was looking and found some wheel spacers made by rough country, they give you 1.5 inches of spacing out, and are made to fit wider tires on vehicles without lifting. would these actually help? here is a link to them

I like the wide stance, and I want to eventually get a 3 in lift and some 31/10.50's, but I dont have the money for a lift kit, or the time to install one at this point, but I do NEED new tires, and im looking for some options. any responses will be appreciated, thanks guys

im thinking they will rub on the outside ie the fenders. The 30s on stock wheels fit inside the fenders and rub the control arms off road and maybe some fender. The spacers get you off the control arms but i still think that you would rub the fender flairs. If you do get them and they rub you could alway trim a little bit. But if you dont want to i am just not sure that size is the way to go. Someone with a similar set up may be able to give you more info.

I think the spacers will just get you rubbing on the fender/flares faster. If you just wanted to run those on the street, you could put some WJ lower control arms on and probably be ok. Those are just as wide a 31x10.5 tires. You'll rub on the lower control arms without the wheel spacers and hit the fenders with them.

Ya. Well there goes that idea...lol but I did find a lift at what I think is a pretty decent price, this guy I know had a stock cherokee for sale but it wasnt selling, so he bought a 3 inch pro comp suspension lift and figured he would just make it a toy, but the day he got his lift a guy came and bought his jeep. So now, he is selling his pro comp 3 inch lift for $300. I have heard about pro comp, and know they are pretty good, but can anyone speak for this lift? And with this three inch lift, is there anything else I need to do/get other than what comes in the package with the lift? here is a pic of what it comes with. thanks for any help

it looks like the control arms dont come with bushings so you will have to get those if they don't but their website/tech will help you find what kind/size to get. Other than that it comes with everything it looks like but eventually you will want full rear springs instead of add a leaf but those will last you a good while. Never owned a procomp suspension but have thier wheels and a tire as a spare and they to make good stuff as far as i know

Yea, if you want to go big tires you have to make room.. my buddy has 235/75's on his stock XJ and those JUST fit, any bigger I'm pretty sure there would be rubbing.

i just did a bb on my 99 xj. before we put the lift on we put the 31-10.50-15 tires on the stock steel wheels and bolted them on. they fit but will not be very functional. they rubbed with very little steering and the rear barely fit in the wheel well. we then installed the 2" spacers and 2" shackles and they work great. the alignment seems to be ok and plenty of room for DD.
Future plans are zj coils and bastard pack for 2.5" additional inches. looking for LCA's that will work and going to jy for JK shocks. 1" TC drop and track bar will also be in the plans.

I'm also interested in who makes the tires you're looking at, sounds like a pretty cool size, are they the General Grabber AT2's? I know they make SSR's in odd sizes like that, but unfortunately getting ANY kind of swamper right now is virtually impossible.

So with a three inch lift I wouldn't have to lower my transfer case or get extended brake lines or get longer drive shafts? I wanna make sure I can make this a weekend project and not have to mess with it again for the most part, I have helped with lifts on a couple other vehicles, but never done anything with a jeep before, jus wanna make sure all my bases are covered

most of those are winter or a/t tires, not a lot of mt's in this size that i found....toyo makes their open country a/t in this size, and medalist makes their sport king a/t also. but ya, i cant really find any m/t's, just a/t's

oh, i can find them online, but try going into a local shop and asking for that size. i never have, but i presume they're gonna say that they gotta special order it. i know i would love to have about that size for a stock XJ, with some nice offset wheels.
