Default 242-j vs 242-wj

Hello,I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee 4.0l I recently messed up the transfer case (242-j) while on the trail. I was wondering if the 242-wj t-case would fit right in? The 242-wj came off of a Grand Cherokee 4.0l . Also what’s the difference between them?

Not sure about all of them, but the front output flange to start. You will have to swap them

So I swap the output flange from the 242-j onto the 242-wj?

Yes, they use different types of CV joints. I think the rest should be OK. Change out the indicator switch too so it matches your wiring. The thing I am not sure about is the tail shaft and housing
