ok i finally took the time to look at my case and i thought it was a 231, but in fact the id tags says MODEL:242 J , anyone got any info on this girl? good bad? thx, nick

My opinion is that is a more versatile case than the 231 since it gives an added option of fulltime which can be used on pavement and year round if you can afford the fuel. Cons are few if any it is claimed to be slightly weaker than the 231 but if so it is very slightly weaker. There is also much less aftermarket support for it. The SYE kit for it is the HnT which means the tailcone is removed and the output must be cut (hacked) and the end of the shaft has to be threaded (tapped) for the flange. A short tailcone with a seal goes in place of the original longer tailcone.

Why would you want to put that heavy-*** thing in there? If you're looking to go nuts, just get an Atlas T-Case.

Not sure the 205 has the correct spline count or mating surface for the AW4 tranny. I had a 205 in a Dodge truck a few years back and was very impressed with it as a fulltime case.

i love the 205, i have it in my trail truck, and i can not break it! but if i could i would def get a atlas, but no money for that now days with kids coming and wut not, thx guys
