242 or 231????

Default 242 or 231????

I kno this has been asked before but I need help. I curently have the 242 but want to kno if i would benifet from swappin in a 231? My jeep will see very little if any pavement, mostly mud but will see some trails and rocks. and I will be Installin a SYE also. So what do you guys think would I be wastin my time to swap in a 231????

Never a waste of time when swapping a 231 in. Cheaper parts, shorty SYE's, more HD upgrades and more gear upgrades.. If it's a wheeling rig do it....

Prolly not any harm since it is a trail rig most of the time. As Nick says there are more options with a 231 for trail use.

i just asked all these questions and what iv found out is that there is very little 242 aftermarket support. Also the only thing people could really tell me about the difference is that the 242 is going to be better in daily driving in snow/winter conditions. I have 231 and i have no compliants offroading

now what is all involve in swappin in a 231? is it pretty much straight forward or is there modifying involved??

It's straight forward, about the hardest part is readjusting the shift linkage. It bolts right in, remeber though there are 3 different input lengths and 2 different spline counts. But that's a easy fix you can use the input from a 242 or 249 or 231 interchangeably in each other.
