218F vs 204F coolant temps

Default 218F vs 204F coolant temps

I have a 2000 Cherokee with 176K. About 3 years ago I had the whole AC system replaced. Condenser, Evaporator, compressor, every single piece. So far it has been working flawlessly in the Texas heat. No issues.

The coolant system I have replaced the water pump with an OEM, 195F thermostat, Heavy duty napa fan clutch, thermostat with a peephole, everything minus the radiator. I always do coolant flush every 15 months or so since I have owned it.

So this summer, after I replaced the water pump, I cannot get the coolant system to run at 210F with the AC ON.

When I run the AC ON, the system sees 218F and when the AC is off and I am burping the system with heater is on I see temps in the sub 205F.

When I cruise I see temps hovering in the 210F and as soon as I come up to a stop and the Jeep idles for a few minutes the temp spikes. Any ideas of what it could be? I burped the system with a burping funnel once again this afternoon and hardly any new bubbles came out. Not sure what to do, I don't mind buying a new radiator but since it was not doing it before the water pump install I want to see if I could figure it out before spending more money. Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

Napa radiators are $110. I would just change it since you did everything else. fins could be crushed, not allowing the fan to pull air through at idle when the clutch kicks in. the micro passages within the radiator cores could be corroded over time, is your radiator cap new and a 16lb spring?

yeah it's a stant 16 lbs. it's new.

I was thinking about a new one. Been looking at this Mopar Model MOPAR 5191929AA Heavy Duty I think it's the standard radiator with the TOWING PKG
