Question 2001 XJ, What size is tapered rubber hose from evap canister to fuel evap metal line?

Hey gang,

My 2001 XJ has been throwing a PO456 Small Evap Leak and PO455 Evap Leak check engine light, and after buying a new Stant gas cap, and clearing the code, it came back after a few days.

I looked under the Jeep where the three hoses connect to the evap canister, and I can see the rubber is cracked around the one that has the thinner metal line in it. I believe that is the fuel evap line (Mopar Part 52100162AE), and I already found the entire line for sale online, but would like to just get the rubber hose piece and try to see if that fixes the leak first.

Anyone know a Mopar, Dorman, or APDTY part number for that short rubber hose piece? It looks bigger on the canister side, and smaller on the metal fuel line side. Anyone know the diameters this connection uses? Would this kit work?
Amazon Amazon

Thank you for any links to parts at Advance Auto, Auto Zone, O'Reilly, NAPA, or Amazon Prime, which are all near me. Please note, I do not have any hose kicking around to cut and use for this, so please don't reply with "just cut some spare hose and all done"

Thanks!

When mine spilt on my '88 (canister in engine bay), I cut the split out and used a barbed nylon reducing splice fitting I got at Home Depot, and a piece of hose that fit the canister port.

If there's not enough of the short hose left, you may need to buy two short sections. Take the hose off and measure the OD's of the metal like and canister for the correct size.

You could try wrapping the hose with some heat shrink tubing or even a few turns of electrical tape (clean the hose well first). I don't think they will last long but should last long enough to see if the light comes back.

The fitting I used. (and yes, I happen to have a piece of spare hose lying around).
