Default 2001 XJ engine woes

Hey guys, just needing some help with my XJ. The engine light came on about a month a go and about a day after it shut off. Then my wife is driving and she said the light came on and the jeep ran like crap. Couldnt accelerate. I believe it went into limp mode. I wasnt there so im not sure. Then a day after that......the engine light shut off. About two weeks ago the light turned on while i was driving and it hasnt shut off since. I had the mech. at my job pull the engine code and he said that it came back as Misfire on cylinder 6. I havent noticed any power loss. Actually we just had a blizzard and i was wheeling away for three days straight! Gotta love the jeep eh? Well this thing is a pain in the but to work on lmao. I couldnt find the spark plugs for one thing. An hour later......found them. plug seemd fine. How can i disconnect the bar or rail that hold the boots? maybe its the boot im thinking. wheres the distributor or coils in this thing? Im not new to cars just new to the jeep. What else can it be? How do i check the fuel injector? and i heard a rumor that i can put 5.0 mustang injectors in this jeep with no mods. is this true as i have 8 of them sitting in my garage....I gotta 89 five oh that we did a cam head intake combo and did the injectors too so i got the stock ones just chilling in a box. Is it worth the time changing the injectors? Being that i gotta check one might as well change them out if possible. How do i reset the computer? I know i gotta problem that needs to be addressed just want to know for the sake of knowing. The jeep is parked until it gets fixed as the misfire code spooked me. I dont wanna mess up my motor. I got plans for that thing and well a lift kit and 35 inch MT claws wont do me any good if they are not spinning so i wanna keep it parked. Please tell me in details if possible as im not jeep friendly ......yet. I want to change plugs, wires, ect but well im lost lol. Thanks

Please break up your post so it's a bit easier to read. Good lord!

Go to your favorite parts store and ask them to use their scanner on your rig and post up which error codes are reported.

Use the search feature and you'll find a lot of info on injectors.

hey man im having the same problem with mine. one morning i cranked it and it ran like crap, wouldnt accelerate. went a coulple of miles and recranked it and it ran fine. the check engine light would come on everytime i filled the gas tank up then would go off. but then it came on and stayed on. been that way for several months. but ive noticed when the motor is cold and i go to crank it that it wont crank on the first go. i can actually bump the ignition then try it again and it will always go on the second try no matter how long the first try was. yours doing this?
