2001 Cherokee Classic check engine light won't come on

2001 Cherokee Classic check engine light won't come on
Hi. I just bought this rig and it wouldn't pass inspection because the check engine light won't come one when you turn the key on. I was wondering how I can fix this. Is there a separate fuse that may be bad or something? Please help. Thanks!

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking too. Replace the bulb in the instrument cluster. If that still doesn't work...look at replacing the ECU possibly. Do the other lights come on whenever you turn the key?
