I’m looking for some help. I have 2001 cherokee 4.0l 4x4. Sometime back it over heated bad. After turned off and let it cool down. I started back up and it ran like a champ for two weeks. I had friend detail engine but after he had finished it wouldn’t start up and it wanted to start . I started getting check engine codes. Saying it could be the crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, and coil pack . I changed all of those and even map sensor. My next step is changing spark plugs. The Jeep starts up rough . I even have give it some gas to start and sometimes I have to hold it down to get the RPMs up for it to stay on. Sometimes it start popping a little and stays on for minute and shut off by itself. I even changed upper engine wiring because some wires had stuck together from when the jeep overheated. Does anybody think it could be a intake manifold leak or Camshaft synchronizer ?

Pull the coil rail and check for water around the plugs and rail area. If necessary, hit it with a hair dryer and dry it out if you find water.
Might want to replace the boots or put some silicone dielectric grease to seal it back up.
