2001 to 1999 coil to distributor conversion on 4.0l
The engine on my 2001 cherokee with the 4.0l recently
blew. I got a great deal on a low mileage
Used engine out of a 1999 cherokee that was
Wrecked. My question is do the make an adaptor
For the wiring harness to switch from the coil
Pack to a distributor??? Or is there some way this can be
Done without getting a new wiring harness and
Computer??? Any of your input would be greatly
Appreciated thanks

Nope. Just install your 2000's CMP whre the distributor went and coil rail as normal. The only difference between the two is that the 1999 head does not have mounting holes for the coil pack rail. But this is easily worked around:

What about the reverse for a 98 head on a 01 block using a dizzy, if possible?

Distributor hole in the block a spline or is
It a magnetic sensor that counts teeth?
And do I need to set both engines to top dead
Center before swapping the distributor for the
Sensor?

Yeah it needs to be indexed just like the distributor. The Camshaft Position Sensor is used for the fuel injector timing.

my 2000 4.0 blew and I had a 97 laying around. Did the swap. Everything switched over. Had to make a few new mouths for the engine but that was really it. It will not stay running or barley start. I got it started for about a min on its own. Timming? Does my coil pack rail need to be grounded? Any help please. Engine ran mins before I pulled it
