Default 2000 XJ Sport Speakers

Hey guys. So My driver speaker isn't working. I assume it's a wire issue. But since I plan on redoing the wires, I figured I might as well put new front speakers in. They are the stock 5.25" speakers. I want to put speakers in that need no modifications or very little. Also not looking to spend much. What speakers will fit the front with no mods or very little? How about the back? I will also change out the head unit eventually when I get time and Money! Thanks in advance!

A lot of choices and opinions. You can go to crutchfield.com and put in your information. Then it pulls up a list of direct swap speakers that will just hook right up.

You can fit 6.5" speakers in both front and rear.

Don't assume that.

The stock speakers in the doors of the 2000 XJ had paper diaphragms that like to disintegrate over time. Once that paper membrane is gone, the speaker is dead and can't make sound. So before you assume the worst, pull the door panel off, pull the speaker out and visually inspect it. The wiring may be fine.

Oh good to know. I thought that if it was the speaker itself, then it would just make bad sounds. I'll definitely check it out! Thanks everyone for the replies!

its common for the wire in the door jamb to break and cause the stock speaker to stop working.
I have the same issue in my 2001
I thought it was the speaker, bought new speakers, I have to rewire the speakers
rear sound bar too
