2000 XJ Problems

Engine: 4.0L I6
The bucking may be just from hard acceleration while in rev limiter "safe" mode. Mine goes into that pretty regularly if I drive it hard. If the CEL is flashing, just keep it under 3000 rpms till you solve the issue.
BTW, get the codes on the CEL right away. Won't solve the question, but may point you in the right direction.
