2000 XJ motor swap

2000 XJ motor swap
My #2 piston went to pieces on the 4.0 liter. I was told that you can not swap in any old 4.0, there is a specific engine block for that year, is this true? I wanted to get another 4.0 and swap it in but does it have to be a specific 4.0 liter block?
