Does anyone know if a stock 2000 Cherokee came with mini cats? I have a 2001 that has them but recently acquired a nice 2000 XJ, and where the Mini cats should be there is just straight pipe with bungs and o2 sensors? Anyone have a stock 2000 that can give me the 411?

 

'00's could have either. CA emissions being the mini cats. Federal emissions not.
But it should be a Y pipe on an '00 not a straight pipe.

I was actually mistaken......the vehicle has a Y pipe and only 2 sensors (not 4), but it does appear as if someone has “monkeyed” with the exhaust a bit, as the pipe for the front 3 cylinders is literally touching the oil pan! But I guess it must be a federal, not a California emissions Cherokee?

Yes.
Check the white sticker on the firewall by the brake booster.
It will say what it is.
