Default 2000 XJ 4WD 2.5TD, now without the T

So, I suspect my 115hp 2.5TD now has misplaced it's T. Approaching 2.8-3k RPM the engine sounds like a whistle contest between a drunk hobbit and a deaf whale. As a result, a lot of horses left the ground, and I'm stuck behind the lorries.

Not being the most experienced mechanic, where should I start my troubleshooting? The turbo is not working, but thats a guess based on the sounds the engine now makes, and the loss of power (if 115hp qualifies as power).

i would look for pre-turbo exhaust leaks or exhaust manifold leaks...if you got a leak then the turbo cant spool properly, resulting in loss of power

as for the whistling...blowoff or wastegate?? my bros g60T always whisles i can hear him comming down the street, even at idle it whistles...he says its normal comming from his wastegate...i say its not...but he has no loss in power and has about 240-270 hp in his jetta

on another note....what 2.5 TD did you swap in there? how much hp/torque are you supposed to have about? was it a hard swap?

Thats the original VM 2.5TD sold in Europe, with 115hp.

I will look for leaks, should i hear them, smell them?

There is oil in the entire loop from the intake of the turbo to the manifoil. Can't be good.

The oil was from the breather hose.

And one of the intercooler hoses had a big tear. Tried to fix it with TEC7 and reinforced tape, will try it out today.
