Default 2000 Jeep Cherokee won start

I went to pick up my sister today and my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport wont start. It makes absoluty no noise when i put the key in and crank; furthermore, when i use the lock/unlock on the keys or door it makes almost liek a grinding noise. could this be the battery or something else? I still have a leak because i just cant find where its coming from. My aunt had the leak problem. it ran down into her fuse box and shorted everything out; could this be that problem??

I'm having the exact same issue with my 97'. I've checked relays and battery voltage all good. Anyone out there has any ideas? the only other thing I can think of is the starter is gone.

I had the same problem when I first picked up my Cherokee so I replaced the battery and a few months later replaced the fuse box (interior-Pass front)because the fuses were completely corroded and the box was too......found a used fuse box at the junk yard with no corrosion.....but the problem came back a couple of months ago and had to replace the battery again but seems to be alright now....but replace the battery first ....
