2000 Jeep Cherokee - Dead or Rebuild
Heartbroken . My baby, my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport with 213,000 which has given me no trouble at all, has a blown #5 valve and I am being told I need the head reworked and the valve replaced. This is my only vehicle and had absolutely no intention of getting a different vehicle any time soon. I love my Jeep, but want to make sure it is worth putting the money into it. Body and interior still in very good condition. Thoughts on rebuilt engine vs newer Jeep?

I just don't know enough about any of this. I've never had a car I've wanted to keep on going forever! Is that a cheaper or better way to go? Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated, especially if anyone can help in the New Orleans area!

First you check for a pulse.
Then you start compressions. Unless you have a barrier device or BVM you ONLY do compressions.Shockable rhythym? Shock at 360, epi, cpr for two minutes, check pulse, no pulse? Check rhythm? Shockable? , shock,CPR ami, shock, CPR epi, shock, CPR ami, shock, epi, shock, epi, shock, epi H's and T's...
Remember: Compressions,
If when it's all over and you have Asystole in leads 1,2, and 3 you can call it and get a new Jeep.
BUT since you've indicated that you have an advanced directive prohibiting such life saving actions I'd suggest buying a reman head and a Haynes manual and some tools.
These Jeeps, like any car, are intimidating until you dig in and start working on them. Expect to be aggravated and annoyed but also expect to learn from the experience and feel awesome when your vehicle that you just did a major repair on is idling peacefully in the driveway.
PS Yes I know the algorithm above is NOT to standard. I just didn't feel like typing it all out...

You're funny. I would LOVE to do this myself, but the 60-70 hours a week I work along with lack of space to work on it, makes that impossible. Like I said, it is my only vehicle and need it fixed much faster than I could make it happen.

I love my Jeep and treat it like a pet. It ain;t dead until I am totally out of money or there is just no hope.
BUT I would guess that a good small shop wouldnt rape you to badly on the repair.
