Okay...so don't rake me over the coals about this. I've never been a "mechanic" that can do stuff under the hood, but with my XJ I'm trying to teach myself basic stuff.


I got this XJ about 18 months ago and don't know it's history. I was in a bad wreck last Summer and couldn't walk/drive for 5 months. I've now gotten started on some upgrades and mods.


I've changed all the fluids and want to do the coil pack and plugs. So..I went to Autozone and they pulled up the 2000 and showed it as having EITHER a coil pack and plugs or a distributor cap. Did they change these mid year or has that guy lost his mind?


Tell me the best way to find out what I have and if you just know what I have give me some suggestions on the best replacement parts for me to order. I have a buddy who will help who knows his way around a car, but I want to do most of it myself.

Cherokees were manufactured from whatever parts they had on hand at the time, some have this and some have that. So, open the hood of your ride look at the engine does it have a coil pack


or a distributor?
