2000 cherokee problems
Yeah been there and they said the same thing. What ticked me off is that they said there's no real fix for it. I think the motor should be recalled if it doesn't work properly.
well it all depends on where you live like it never happens to me anymore but i live in florida (hot) and it would do it during city driving but you have to remember that both manifolds are on the same side of the head i think the best thing is a funcional cowl hood or vents i was looking at a thread where someone made vents them self looked amazing

Well, I have this exact same problem, and I don't really find it to be a big deal. I never did any fix for it, but its never really interfered with my driving either.
In the summer time sometimes if the conditions are right ill start it and it runs rough as hell for like 10 seconds or until I rev it a hair, then its perfectly fine. One time it was pretty bad and I had it stall out (it was about 95 out too), but it started right back up again and it was fine.
My advice: just live with it.

Mine does it too. Before I figured out what it was, I'd rev it and it would kick the check engine light on. Back to the garage and he'd read the misfire code. New plugs and all was good for about a week. Now if it does it, I'll just let it idle for a few seconds until I hear it's running on all 6 and off I go.
Just had compression and leak down tests done and I got a blinking check engine light today. Then it was steady on. Then started blinking again all the while I'm still driving. Second time it started blinking, it started bucking like it was really misfiring so I pulled over. Shut it off, checked some things, started it up and it has stayed on but I feel it misfiring a little. Did the mechanic forget to tighten something down??

I have the same problem with my 01, I have installed hood vents, plugs, Coil rail, 180 thermostat, and heat shield and still no good. I am going to replace the #3 injector and see if that helps. Mine also starts hard after warming up, but will fire right up in the morning when cold after sitting all night.
I have recently been having the same blinking check engine light to not blinking problem as well. The 2000 XJ is new to me and had had no prior engine/electrical problems. I have replaced all of the spark plugs and boots which was needed, though it did not take long before the problem reappeared. The codes are reading cylinder 4 and cylinder 6 misfires and random multiple misfire. Interestingly, ti doesn't feel like a misfire at all. Did you ever find a solution to your problem? If so what was it?
Usually on the 00-01's, it's the Heat Soak issue where gas vaporizes and causes a misfire in one or multiple cylinders. The only cure that worked for me (and i tried em all) was rigging up the E-fan to run a few minutes after I shut off the jeep. It blows cold air onto the problematic area, cooling it down and preventing the annoying misfire.

Those sleeves do not work.
I did this very thing, sleeved the #3 injector with the Chrysler supplied part, and it didn't help at all. I sleeved #2 as well, no difference.
Need to come up with a GOOD heat shield and a way to mount it to deflect the heat away from the fuel injectors.

Fan mod seems to be the best solution and has been done by quite a few folks on Naxja too. I haven't had the misfire, except once, since I did that mod.
I did the sleeve thing and did it to all 6 and it has seemed to work so far. (did it about 2 weeks ago and we had some 80 deg days here last week)
mine always has a rough idle but when it heat soaked it did it really bad and my check engine light blinked, after sleeves no problem so far.

What you have is heat soak you need to get the sheild from the dealer for #3 injector .Another thing to do that will help is to get plug wire boot heat sheilding and wrap all the injectors ,also changing your injectors to the ford winstar ones from the V-6 also helped on my 2000 xj I have done all the above and haven't had heat soak since,Looks like only a couple of other guy's in this post kno what they're talking about, that's just par here anyways good luck and let me know how it turns out.Plus if you hook your electric fan up to run all the time it might help.
