Unless you are going with a deep sump pan to hold 8-10 quarts, there is no reason to run a high volume pump.
Running the stock pan and a high volume pump you risk the pump empting the pan, which would then mean it's no longer pumping oil.
Stick with a stock replacement pump.
BTW, Dino is not a trustworthy source of information in my opinion.

i myself have run a melling hv for almost 80,000 on road and off with no problems

Doesn't change the fact that you run the risk of emptying your pan though does it?
I'm glad it's working for you, truly I am, but in comparison, millions of 4.0's are running around with over 200,000 miles on them with the stock pump and no issues.
It's kind of like saying, I've never changed my oil, just the filter... and have 200,000 miles without issue.
It's another one of those things you "can" do, but it doesn't make the most sense.
You do what works for you.
I'm simply stating the risk associated with running a H.V. pump with a stock volume pan.
Everyone is free to do what they believe is best.

ok buddy. higher volume of oil flow makes less risk for failure. hv pumps dont pump enough oil to empty a pan. at 200k my motor made so much noise after i added the pump no more noise and now 280k with no more noises and running strong

4.0 has more than sufficient drain back to run a hv pump. thats why the stroker engine builders recommend using a hv pump with their motors. give bennie at hesco a call

a high volume pump is no good if you dont have extra volume for it to pump from. I used to have a set of bearings to prove it. Thats one reason they make larger oil pans....they are for larger volume. Pretty simple plus ive seen it after somebody ran HV pumps. I recently put a guage in mine i have just enough oil pressure at idle for the dummy light not to come on. The guage almost doesnt move when warm. I may put a pump in it to see if it helps, but i know it was a neglected engine from where i got the jeep so its prolly from wear. Its a trail truck only with 241k on it. I got good oil in it now so we will see, i may run it just to see what it does

they make larger pans for motors that need it. the 4.0 is a motor that doesnt need it/ like i said it has more than sufficient drain back

Did a search on Hesco hoping to find ****, but, nothing other than rave reviews, so, I'll assume they know thier stuff.
And... I will regretfully admitt I was applying 302 technology... assumptions... and where they get you...
