Theres your problem. Do a quick search on people putting platinums in these, this is what usually happens, platinum plugs are not as good as a conductor as copper, ignition systems not designed to handle them. Go with the part number under the hood for factory plugs, or just use some good plainn old copper cores. i know its a pia switching them out again, but this has happened ALOT b4.

People think platinum plugs are more expensive, so they are better, not the case in chryslers. The plugs that come in your jeep factory should also be replaced every 30k. I see alot of chrysler vehicals, around 110k or so, that come in to work with misfire codes, almost always it is just plugs, because no one knows the intervial is 30k.

I think 30 k is a little excessive, but I say replace the copper cores every 50 k or so, and make sure they are gapped right.

I see you said you swapped plugs and are still having this issue then it isn't the plugs although I agree with last poster, stick with stock style plugs nothing beats champions. Check #6 injector and check inside boot of #6 plug for corrosion and that the metal looks good. Prob the different style plugs cause more of a combustion thats why it feels worse

Hey there, I'm new to the online forum here and was reading along in hopes of finding someone with a similar problem. I am experiencing the exact same issue in mine but I am pretty sure that there are standard plugs in it. It seem to me like a short or an injector. I was even told that there is a possibility that there could be an issue stemming from the ECM. Trying to isolate the problem has been a real pain.

Finding if it is an injector issue is so
Pled than a short or comp problem. But as in an troubleshoot take it one step at a time and the answer will come. Always handle simple steps first like corroded boot and cables, bad injectors bad plug gapping etc

I'll have to switch them out for sure. Thanks a ton. I've noticed and heard copper cores are the good choice but didn't realise how important it was.. the thing I love most about these jeeps is they seem to fix themselves sometimes. I hopped in it about an hour ago to get gas and the cel was off!? But still a small lope. Put some injector cleaner in er and now its there maybe once every 30 seconds at idle. But I will do copper plugs when I get the chance. Thanks a ton guys. I'll keep you updated

Does the plug come out of #6 wet? If not I'm guessing you might have an injector problem...

I too have this problem # 6 misfire, I have changed plugs to the cheep copper ones and it went away at first I drove about 700 miles before my ck engine lite came on again. now I read the code and it says misfire #6 and o2 sensor, there are 4 sensors at $60 pc to replace,because of finances I have to wait a little bit. could 02 sensors cause a misfire like this?

Yes. O2 sensors will. They regulate the injectors.

So I have a '91, probly way diff than yours as far as ignition system goes, but......

I use the autolite copper plugs gapped at .35 and they last a good 60k...easy

(yeah I know should change em every 50k.)

what you also may have besides the injector on six is the wire from the # 6 plug can be separated inside the boot, giving you intermittent connection, and fire.
take a ohmmeter and check resistance on say Number 3 plug wire...while jiggling it around....then do the same on number six wire....
see if you get same resistance value.. or open..while moving it around.
if so you got a bad plug wire....

Seen it on mine.....

If you have covered this already, my bad.

Default 00 cherokee 3rd cylinder misfire

I had my 3rd cylinder misfire on my 00 jeep cherokee . After i got the jeep two years ago few months later the engine light came on but showed no problem so reset from battery then not to long after went off road at beach when leaving engine light blinked and shook at low speed for short time then all normal . Some time latter riding down road the same thing happens but stops 30 min after pulling over . both times were really hot days outside. got it tested at mechanic and read 3rd cylinder miss fired been fine since end of july.. i have not done anything.... ???

Sorry man, I have not had a chance to swap the injectors out. Family medical issues are a real b*tch sometimes. Hopefully the new plugs resolve your issue. I used some standard factory plugs on mine so I really hope its just injectors. WIll try to get that done this weekend or early next week.
