Default 2" wheel spacers?

Im looking to buy new tires, winter is on its way soon and im running stock street tread tires. Found alot of tires i liked but want to go bigger than 235. I dont know much about big tires( owned a mustang the past 5 years) and want to know if i get some 2" wheel spacers would it be possible to run 31 10.50s? The lift is coming at the beginning of the year and would like that size tire when i get it. Just dont wanna have to buy 2 new sets of tires. If this question is stupid, feel free to let me know!

I run 1.25" spacers with 31s on factory wheels no problem, clears the LCA's nicely.

31x1050's seem to do well. You can always get a 1 or 2 inch BB for el cheapo.. A suggestion for tire is the wrangler dura trac. I've got em in the 235 variety, but they come in a 31x1050 and kick *** in the snow. The reason most mud tires don't do well in snow is the lack of siping. Siping is the little channels cut into the lugs. Winter tires have as many as they can get on there, while a summer tire has little to no siping. The way it works is the snow packs into the siping and thru the awesome laws of physics, actually grips to the snow on the ground. Pretend one hand is your tire and the other hand is the ground; pack a snowball tight and then try to shear it in half while holding it cupped in between your hands.. this is the idea behind siping! With that said, I go back to the dura tracs: while not a dedicated mud tire, they are full of siping and are a 10 ply, e rated tire that is really capable all year long! My testament to them is they got my thru the winter with ease! AND there was very few places I could go this summer that my buddies wrangler with 6" lift, 33's and ARB's front and rear could go.. Just my 02!

Thanks guys and yes, the Duratracs look AWESOME! Ive been looking up the Wrangler Authority too, I know i know, wal mart tire but they look pretty awesome and are $150.50 for 31x10.50s, might have to get those and let everyone know how they hold up.

A lot of people on here, me included, don't like wheel spacers. Because you drive a 96 I don't think there will be a need for them with no lift. Typically 97+ have the issue of running 31's with no lift because they have smaller wheel wells. Wheel spacers will just push the tire out so it won't run on the LCA but the issue that you are going to run into is the tire wanting to eat your fender flare when you go over bumps or flex. Its kind of hit or miss with each jeep, some can clear 31's with no lift others cant, it all depends on how saggy your springs and leaf packs are. Either way after you lift it you can either run wheel spacers to keep the tires from hitting the LCA's or just get a set of cheap steelies with less backspacing.

Hmm, thats a good point, didnt think of that...i'll get em, then use a BB lift if i have any problems then add them to the RC 3.5 lift with full leafs i plan on getting soon, that should solve any problems temporarily
