Default 2.5 diesel

Hello,
I am in the Market for a new car. I have owned a toyota tacoma for some time now, and it has been a great truck. Its time to move on. I am thinking of jumping into an SUV. I really like the Cherokee XJ. My mom had one when we were kids and I remember it being a great vehicle on and off road, completely stock. After doing some research, there seem to be some rumors of one that has a diesel engine. Does anybody have any facts or opinions about this.

Thanks so much

2.5L diesel was only sold overseas, anything you find in North America is going to be an import

jeep cherokees are some of the best vehicles ever built

dont let that toyota go if you dont have tho

as much as i dont like imports....those things go forever

jeeps cherokees do to tho....rumors of 300k miles are out there

there was a 2.5 made, im not sure of what years tho....

I think they were strictly sent over seas.....

Europe has alot of turbo diesel cars, the usa car makes think americans wont buy diesel cars b/c they stink (as in fumes)

i for one would be for a jeep with a 2.5 or similiar motor that got 25+ mpg

Default Thanks guys

Thanks for all the speedy answers.
Unfortunately, I have to let my Taco go. It's a single cab, and I am starting a family. Yeah I am in U.S.A, when I was doing some research about the XJ's I came across the 2.5, it said sold. I figured I was ask about them and see what came up. What is the best years for the XJ's 4x4? Does anybody know anything about the Cherokee wagoneer XJ?

Thanks again

Personally, if I was looking for reliabilty (family car) I would pick a stock 96-99

I would look for one with airbags (97 plus) if the family was riding in it, and put the kid in the middle back seat. Average-ish crash ratings with airbags.
