1999 xj wont start , no bus
Hello everyone, I own a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport I6 4.0l. I was driving my Cherokee home the other day and all of a sudden I lost power and it coasted to a stop, I tried to start it again but it just cranked with no start. After a couple times trying a "no bus " was displayed on my dash. I am assuming it may be my crank sensor ( that I will check today for short) I have changed twice already. I also switched out a working computer to rule out the ECM. I am all out of ideas, are there other areas I should be looking at other than the crank sensor?....HELP

Check your underhood and cabin fuse panel. If there is a short to the ecm it will blow the ignition circuit. Next step would be visual inspection of the CPS harness, all 6 injector pigtails, tps and IAC wiring.

I had exactly the same thing happen this weekend. Driving along fine, and with no warning, the Jeep died in a parking lot. Cranked freely, but no start. Fuel gauge read empty and voltage gauge had no reading. dash lights, odometer and all other functions seemed to be normal. After cranking a few times, a Check Engine light came on and the odometer read "no buS".
After researching the symptoms I came up with the Crankshaft Position Sensor. $90 at O'Reilly's. Easy replacement and it started right up. The mechanic I had tow it back to my house said that it is recommended to replace the camshaft sensor at the same time. I haven't done that yet, but I probably will soon.
