Default 1999 xj front bumper question......(about the plastic guards on the bumper)

does anyone have a pic of what the bumper looks like w/ these removed?

just got a Detours Bumper Brow Lite bar for the '99, but i got one thats too long to fit in between the plastic guards on either side of the front bumper.......

just trying to figure out how easily removeable the plastic guards are w/o breaking them........or if cutting them down a bit would be easier than removing.......

let me know merry merry ****'s

oops! forgot to add............

point being, the "short" bumper brow lite bar only has space enough for one set of lights, so i want to keep the longer bar...........that being said, the plastic needs to either 1. come off completely, 2. be trimmed to fit the mounts, or 3. cut into to make holes big enough for the mounts.........

i'm trying to keep the truck as stock as possible............

There are 4 screws, two 10 MMs on the front, and two more (forget the size, standard though), up in the wheel well. Not to hard to remove but the inner fender lining will need to be trimmed if keeping it off. I suggest cutting the plastic around the mount(take your time, it'll look 100 times better than if you hack and guess with it).

they were pretty easy to remove once the get to the bolts, gotta move the plastic out of the way first. you can kinda see how it would look in this pic.

it is almost identical to the one in the foreground of the pic (thats about to get installed on my XJ, the green one).

it is the rocklizard fab bumper, which is no longer being made. i had someone fab one up for me using a very similar design.

here it is installed:

Nice, I'm not in the market for one yet, but when i am, i am def. getting one that wraps underneath the fender, i think it looks more complete.

----------------------------------------
A guy I know well took the bumpers off of a 99' wrangler and gave them to me, but I figured if I made custom brackets, it would work because the bumpers match the width of the front and back of the jeep.
I got lucky because the back hatch can open all the way without the back bumper stopping it.
----------------------------
I sprayed the brackets with 2 coats of primer and I am getting the bumpers themselves sandblasted by a guy I know, and I figured I'm too cheap to buy a $800-1000 pair of bumpers. I'm thinking about coating them with a satin black, they're steel bumpers and should hold up to a lot of impact; but anyways nice find man.. and happy Jeeping!

Note: I will upload photos later on...
