Default 1999 sport no turn signals, but 4 way flashers.

My xj decide to quit giving me turn signals this morning. It worked fine, then would just give me 3 clicks then start doing a conga rhythm and finally no turn signals at all. I have the relay where I can feel it and the 4 ways work fine. I can feel the clicking. Is it normal for the turn signals to expire and the 4 ways to still work? All bulbs blink so no bad bulbs.

Will get a new relay tomorrow if that is what is needed.

Many vehicles, including the XJs if I'm not mistaken, have a flasher relay for the 4ways, and a separate one for the turn signals.

Don't replace the one for the 4ways, lol, that's not gonna fix anything.

Prior to 1997 this was true. According to my manual there is only the one relay and it is next to the drivers side kick panel under the dash.

To all who read this post, changing the relay gave me back my turn signals.

early in my jeep history my 00 had batt trouble over nite. i noticed that device was clicking, felt it but nothing flashed. it worked as it should but sometime it clicked doing nothing!
new one fixed it. its kinda a complex device , more than just a flasher.
in doubt like you i just changed it
