1999 parts swap to 1989

Depends, there were a couple options for both years. For the '89 it would either be a Dana 35 or a Dana 44. For the '99 it would either be a Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25". Are you looking to swap?

Yes the same, but the e-brake lines are different and can be swapped. '99 will have lines that go to the drivers side and the '89 will have lines that go to the center. Disconnect them from inside the brake assembly. You just need to pull the sping back and pull the wire from the lever, then just unclip it from the backing plates. Reverse for install.

You might also need to swap driveshafts as well, depending on what diffs each xj has.
