My 1999 Cherokee which has run great and is in excellent condition will not start for some reason. It had been parked for about 4 weeks when I discovered the problem. The last time I drove it I noticed a rough idle....then a dead battery (brand new). I replaced the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, poured Heet into the tank, added 5 gallons of fresh gas and still it will not fire. The engine turns, and I can hear the fuel pump go, but it will not start. Any ideas? Thanks all for the help!

Try and hold down your throttle about half way when you are cranking. If you can start the vehicle this way but as soon as you let off the gas it dies than it is your IAC (idle air control valve) that is bad. Wich would also explain the rough idle.

Attach a fuel pressure gauge and see if you are getting normal pressure. Also try turning you key on and off but do not try to start. Do it a couple of times then try to start if. If is starts easy, you have a fuel problem.
