Default 1998 xj brake booster

i just installed a new brake booster on my 98 xj, it stops and all but, my brake pedal isnt leveled how it was before. and my brake lights are on because of it. for now ive disconnected my battery so the lights doesnt drain my battery. what could i have done wrong? the pedal is connected to the booster how it should be. help please. thanks

If you are positive its the correct booster you may need to adjust the rod. Pull the master cyl and you'll see it.

and as for the brake lights, all you have to do is pull the brake light switch plunger out as far as you can, then when the pedal releases, it will push the plunger back in, adjusting it properly.

it may take a bit of a pull to get the plunger to pull out, but trust me, it will. it's kind of ratcheted.
