Default 1998 AW4 problems

So my tranny started leaking from the front so I took it too the local AAMCO(I'm getting out of the Marines May 1st and already had most of my tools moved back home)well I had them "fix" it and bolt it back in, I was trying to save on costs so I said I would hook the starter and plug in the tranny lines and electrical and do the exhaust. Well my issue is is that it won't start first of all all gauges work, reverse lights work ect... but it won't crank so I tried to arc the starter and it fired right up and idled super high and made the worst grinding/screeching noise I've ever heard from the transmission(while in park) so I instantly ran and turned it off. What could it be? I checked the torque converter bolts they were all tight I am at a loss. It took the dang place 2 weeks just todo the little that they did. I really need to be able to drive this back from NC to TN next month what should I do? What should I check?

Also it has fluid dex/iii

AAMCO. They screwed up your transmission. It's what they do.

What he said ^.

AAMCO (All Automatics Must Come Out). I got conned years ago. Never again. EVER. Google them. You decide.

I have no idea what could be wrong inside your transmission, if that is in fact the issue. What were they asked to do? Are you sure the noise is coming from the transmission? Its possible the starter is getting hung up and grinding on the flexplate. Look for 'grinding starter' on Youtube.
