1997 XJ- Identify this switch panel
My 98 XJ has this on the dash. It appears to be a knockout for a switch panel.
What would this space have been used for?
Is there enough space behind there to mount switches? The switches I'm looking at are approximately 1-1/2 inches deep.

Could it be something used on right hand drive models?

I can always hook my code scanner up to the jeep to find out whats wrong. I've yet to find a woman scanner that offers the same service.
In any case, its neat to see what goes in particular spaces. I would have never imagined it was for diesel-specific lamps. I didnt know the Police-package XJ had a different switch panel down there that had like four or five switches on it
Still puzzles me why smaller diesel engines weren't popular/sold in the US, they killed the diesel for XJs early on, and i dont think the US Hilux ever had the stout diesel its reliability was known for abroad.
