Hi all. I'm having an interesting issue with my Jeep. First off, the AC was inop when I bought it almost a year ago, and the heater core popped about 2 weeks ago. No biggie- I didn't care about the AC at the time because the Jeep had ZERO rust unlike the '95 it was replacing that had all but rusted away.
BUT, shortly after the heater core blew, the vents became possessed. I've had the vacuum leak issue before where they'll start blowing out of the defrost vents under load, but this is not the problem this time. I have checked the Jeep egg and the lines going to it, and the conditions see to be independent of engine load. It will switch from any position to just whistling loudly and not blowing out of any vents. It could even do it at idle. If you mess around with the vent selector you can get it to stay on one setting for a moment, but then it just goes back to the obnoxious whistle with no air flow.
I'm about to go yank my dash to do the heater core and inspect the evaporator so I can get heat and AC again, so if anyone knows what I need to repair/replace to get the vents to straighten up and fly right I have love to hear about it!
Thanks!

Such fun times!

I *think* I may have found the source of my vent selection woes... There was a broken tee in the line to the Jeep egg. I must have snapped it when I went to bypass my heater core a couple weeks ago... I thought I had checked the line well, but that one slipped by me!
