Greetings. Just purchased a 1997 Right Hand Drive Cherokee for rural mail delivery and the rear passenger side door latch won't work. I managed to get the door open and removed the latch assembly. Now I am having trouble locating a replacement part. Seems it's been discontinued. I've found power locks on ebay and amazon, but this model does not have power locks. Can I use the power lock as a manual lock? Does anyone have a source for a replacement manual latch assembly? Part number? Thanks

 

Manual and power locking doors use the same latch.
The only difference is one gets a power lock solenoid added.

 

Thanks for the reply. I called the dealer to get a part number and he said 4798916AB. He also said the power latch would not work in place of the manual, but he didn't sound confident. I am going to look for one in a salvage yard first.

 

Try googling 97 cherokee door handle. I did and got endless interior and exterior handles from numerous vendors such as quadratec, amazon,ebay...bla..bla.
