1997 4x4 transmission and 231 in a 1999 2wd?

1997 4x4 transmission and 231 in a 1999 2wd?

I have a 4x4 1997 4.0 auto, and it has a salvage title. I need to convert my 1999 4.0 auto 2wd to 4x4 using parts from this 1997. Is it just swapping the trans with the harness or more to it? I know 1997 was a weird year with the aw4.

You need the front axle and driveshaft as well.

The 1997 transmission will not work with the 1999 electronics. Start by reading the first page of this thread.
