I still use my '95 mainly, as I am SO used to it, it has an excellent Index section, and everything (in the vehicle) except fuel and engine electrical is the same

The '96 may be laid out like this as well, I will have to double check

later FSM do not have the Index in the same way

The Index makes it 10 times easier to find things

The sections that refer to Electrical and Fuel systems are '96 unique and vital to have access to

I already had a copy of the electrical section that someone had photocopied years ago, converted and uploaded to a torrent site, so I am just continuing the good work of others

I feel like us '96 XJers need a manual from '95, '96, and '97 lol.

It depends on how the PDF was produced. Some are just scanned as images and saved in a PDF. The Renix Fuel Injection manual is like this. Others are passcode locked with restrictions, some lack OCR (text search) some lack bookmarks. The '96 has a watermark on every page. But you get what you paid for. Better these with their limitations than a Haynes of Chiltons.

Are you suggesting that you converted and uploaded the '96 FSM?

I checked and the '96 Manual from that site does not have the complete Index that is in the '95

Yes, another '96 owner photocopied the Electrical Section from the Jeep Dealer, he was an auto electrician himself
He then uploaded it as a torrent, he said that there was only a paper copy of the '96 FSM at that time (many years ago)

Thanks for sharing. This will definitely be useful for me. I also prefer manuals in PDF format, and if needed, you can convert them using the good online converter discussed in the post https://www.reddit.com/r/studytips/c...t_pdf_to_pptx/ that was recently shared with me. By the way, this online tool is also great for editing - I especially like adding annotations to manuals. It might be useful for someone else as well.
