1996 Jeep Cherokee Sputtering
Ok so i posted a thread a while back about my Cherokee sputtering while accelerating. Changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. Turns out my 4 month old pump died for unexplained reasons so i changed it. After a month of driving it i noticed whenever i would get down to about a half a tank of gas it would sputter. Now if i fill up it would be fine until i punch the gas. My assumption is that there a lot of debris in the gas tank since it sat for 3 years and its getting clogged in the strainer. If anyone else has anything else they might think the problem is i'm all ears.
I just looked at Rock Auto and they show quite a few brands of pumps and regulators. It's the fuel sending unit that isn't available.

Haven't had any problems with it since i put it in. Just my car keeps sputtering when i floor it. Im thinking the gas tank might have a lot of debris in it so i wondering if i should change it.

Ugh. You might have a bunch of crud in your lines, then. Might be time to flush them all back towards the tank, after you disconnect the pump, of course.
Where's your filter on that beast?
So that's my take on it.
Left Side Rear Wheel in front of gas tank. I replaced that twice and it wasn't dirty the first time. Think it could be the fact theres a lot of crud in the gas tank since it sat for 3 years?Plus as a bonus i didn't clean the tank when i changed the pump the first time
So that's my take on it.

Same thing happened to the Blazer we have (before we got it). The tank wasn't removed. New pump with screen was installed. Everything from the injectors had to replaced. Not saying yours will need this. I have a feeling our Blazer was in a flood at one time. I'd start by flushing the line out from the fuel rail back towards the tank. Remove the filter and disconnect from the pump. See what comes out.
