so im new with my jeep, and well yea anyway i was wondering wut do you think the best kind of spark plugs are for a jeep cherokee? all opinions are wanted...

 

i have always used NGK in everything i own and never had any problems. you don't need any of that double, triple or quadruple **** though it only gets hotter.

 

i used to have a 04 civic and i used ngk and i liked it, i just didnt kno if jeep had diff type or anything, im new to the jeep thing ya kno

 

Dodge/Chryco/Jeep, Champion. Nothing else needed, you'll only waste more money.

 

how are bosch plugs? i was gonna get the bosch premium ignition system (plugs wires and rotor) for my 96 do they like these plugs?

i def was digging my ngk plugs in my honda, but this aint no honda anymore. i never used champ in any of the cars ive owned, maybe its worth the show, any other opinions?

 

I refuse to use champion plugs. I usually go with bosch even though they are a bit more expensive i have never had one foul out.

I picked up a 2001 XJ in november, the guy had all the maint records. The Jeep ran "OK" I checked the plugs just for grins, ends up it had Bosch platinums. I switched them out to the NGK's, (that the parts catalog calls for).....Night and day differance....the thing screeeems now, with the correct plugs.


Most of the time the incorrect plug will cause the engin to run poor, I've seen this alot. Mis-fires, rough idle, hard to start.

Check the tag on your fire wall, run those plugs with the correct gap..... .035

 

I am a new jeep owner (which happens to need new plugs) so this info is like gold to me too. Some vehicles like specific plugs, my '86 VW scirocco would not run with anything but Bosch plugs.

newer models used ngk and the older models like yours came with champions.

 

4.0 is picky in the fact it wants plane ole champions that came from the factory. the newer direct ignition are ngk, stick with what the factory used.

older 4.0's act funny on certain plugs, champion only, done.

 

Champion, okay, recommended gap?

 

1999 and older use Champion. 2001-2001 use NGK. All at .035
I put Bosch in my 98 and it was the biggest waist of money. I had to change them out after 2 days because they made it run crap.
