1996 - Bad fuel check valve
Won't hold line pressure when fuel pump not operating. I have to prime the fuel rail by exercising the key several times to put/keep enough fuel pressure in the line to start the engine without a long crank time. No running problems. It's just a failed check valve. I replaced the pump in my 98 because it was bad but it makes no sense to replace a perfectly good pump due to a faulty check valve. Anyone ever retro-fit a 5/16" inline fuel check valve? I'm looking at one of these to put in my fuel line just after the filter.

Thinking about it, I regrouped and went back to the cheapo fuel injectors I bought and installed a month or so ago. Turns out one was bad. I reinstalled the original injectors and the pressure problem disappeared. Live and learn.
