While trying to install an extended braided SS hose to my rear axle I snapped the hard line, the one that runs from the proportioner under the MC all the way to the back...

I went thru all the stages of grief:
Denial - Maybe it's not really broken.
Anger - I hate this Cherokee.
Bargaining - Maybe a compression fitting will work.
Depression - This is going to cost a lot of $$ to fix; life sucks.
Acceptance - I finally decided to replace the entire line.

FWIW, this is not intended to be a DIY, more of an overview and parts list.

I used 4 parts from my local Autozone/Advance Auto, and total cost was under $20:
1) AGS Poly Armour Brake Line 3/16in x 72in (PA-372)
2) AGS Brake Line Standard Union Fitting (BLU-3C)
3) NiCopp Nickel/Copper Brake Line, 3/16in x 30in (CN-330)
4) AGS Master Cylinder Adaptor (BLF-20C)

This is the spot of the original break. I measured the original line at 101 inches so the 72in line here combined with the 30in line fit perfectly.


The union ended up being at the firewall, right where the line turns upward.


The original line has a 1/2 inch fitting on this end so an adaptor was needed to make it work.


I used a socket in my vise as a bending fixture. Once I had the new lines close, I tweaked them by taping the new lines to the old ones (removed from the car) and bending slightly by hand.

The copper line bends super easy, but the steel line wasn't too bad either. And for the record I would have used all copper but with the limited selection at the parts store, I had to mix them to get the length right...
