I think as long as you take it apart carefully and maybe in an area where any bits that try to escape are caught, it'd just be a matter of clean up, free up and regrease.
When mine parks down I often hear a clicking of relays for a second or 2 before it stops. If it's resisting properly parking up or down, it's likely to be stiff and springs out of parked position when the motor stops pushing, causing it to click back on and off and on.
Either that or a stripped gear.
