Default 1992 dana 30 u-joint

two different sizes...any way to tell what size?

its a 1992 jeep cherokee laredo, with the np242, dana 30 / dana 35, and it has ABS. if anybody can help?

you want an x-297 joint for the front axle.
x-1310 for drive shafts.

Actually on the axle u-joint you have 2 sizes depending on a few things. If your 92 does not have able you have the smaller size, if you have ABS you have the 297/760 style joints. If you do not have ABS head to a local JY and find new axle shafts from a 96 or newer XJ and it will have the larger 297/760 ujoints.


Ooops I guess I should have read the original post completely. Poster above is dead on you need 297/760 style axle ujoints.

well i bought both....bigger and smaller...i have the big ones. bigger is better. anyway, its alot tougher then i thought when you dont have a press...just a hammer and a huge socket....didnt even know the c-clips were on the inside. well i got one side done.

cool. i just did both joints and hub units on the wifey's tj last a few days ago.

i took all the pics using a hammer and socket so i can do a detailed write up.
if anyone wants it, i'll post it.

i can't remember if i did the write up. that computer fried, so i just bought a hard drive docking station so i can access that old hard drive with my new laptop.
i'll see if i can find those pics and get a write up done in the next couple of days.
unless someone's already beat me to it...

Haha I used my shiny new press from harbor freight. Had to do ball joints too. They were so stuck I shattered one of the caps from the old u joint.
