1990 Cherokee Neutral Safety Switch help!

So long story short I limped my switch along for a few years tapping ,and moving from park to neutral and it finally quit. Living in Ohio didn't help much when trying to get the original off needless to say it's broke now I need a replacement. I have ordered two different switches both came with the wrong plug. I even went to the extent to try to splice my old plug and the new switch with colors to the best of my ability with no avail. Does anyone know of a direct fit for a 1990? Or have something in mind? I use it to drive on the road so I don't want to bypass. Thanks!

They were the same for many years. I don't understand why you're having an issue finding one.

Top picture is just like what the replacements have (6 pins also). Bottom picture is my oem(7 pins). Look at where the arrows are pointing. The plug will not go in.I also dont know if the 6 vs 7 pins makes a difference. I also took a dremmel and made them both have the opening at the bottom to make the plug work. But based off of the colors of the wires i think its the wrong configuration.

I'm guessing, but I bet you have purchased a later model NSS.

I just went out to my parts shed and checked one of my new NSSs. It is wired like the one that came off your Jeep originally.

Its wierd though because i was refered to this site by another jeep guy same thing 87-96 but the cut out is on the wrong side and still only 6 pins. I appreciate the help. If you have a new one that lines up with my oem ill 1000% buy it i just want to get it going

You coulda got a mis-boxed part.

Hasn't the NSS has been the same for '87-'96 and changed to a more square plug in '97+?

I checked a used "spare" I bought years ago of ebay (like 2007) and it's the same connector as the OMIX.
