1989 xj no spark

Default 1989 xj no spark

i put a different motor in my cherokee and the motor we put in did run before we put it in. it is the same year as the cherokee too. when we put it in and tryed to start it, it didnt start. we found out that there was no spark. also when you turn it over one of the relays start clicking. i was woundering if any one knows what the problem could be.

crank sensor is installed ?wires not pinched

Agreed. This is a common problem with a motor swap.

Crank sensor is located on the bellhousing, drivers side.

Without that signal going to the computer, you will not have spark, and you will not have fuel going TO the fuel injectors.

i have gas to the fuel rail any more ideas?

Having gas at the fuel rail does not exclude the crank sensor.

If the crank sensor is bad, you can have great pressure at the fuel rail, but no fuel is getting TO the fuel injectors.

Inspect crank sensor wiring and connector. Test the crank sensor.
