Default 1988 Pioneer Turning Signal Beep!

Okay, this is the second Cherokee I've had, but the 1988 has a god-awful beeper that goes off when you hit the turn signal. Sounds like a modern back-up warning signal and hurts my ears.

Anyone know how to disable this noise? Where is the location of the offending beeper?

Thanks!

is there an aftermarket alarm in the car or anything? The only thing I can think of is the buzzer for leaving the keys in the ignition/lights on when you open the door.

Default Aftermarket signal

I don't know if it is an aftermarket part since the car is new to us.

Tried Googling to see if the sound was supposed to be there, but it is hard to miss. I'll have to see if it is the same noise when you leave your keys in or a different one.

It is annoying as hell, though, to hear back-up warning when you turn.

For fun, I'll take a video of it tonight after work and post it on YouTube and put the link here.

It is definitely an intentional sound that matches up with the turning signal's pace, just not the nice click click.

Like i said, its either something aftermarket, or fubar wiring.

Maybe it was an option from the factory for deaf drivers...

Default Thanks!

Will post a vid tonight. Must have had a hard-of-hearing turning signal option upgrade :-)

It is a conversation piece, if nothing else.

This is what I was thinking. I do know that they do make them with different sounds at least they use to.

Anyone hear anything like this before, and if so, how the heck can I kill it?

Thx,
Morph

No clue. Just track it down by ear and rip it out. Who knows, it might be a weird flasher thing.

I agree with the aftermatket clicker installed. It sounds like a smoke alarm buzzar.

You should look into the wireing of the turnsignal or right after the clicker for the signal and I'm sure you will find something wired into those.

Good luck. The video made me laugh. I could see why you'd get anoyed of it.

Default Annoyance Solved!

Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction!

One would think I would have found where the noise was coming from on my own, but I swear it sounded like it was coming from inside the dash, not from underneath it.

Lesson learned and for the good of the community (or to show just how damn stupid I really am) I share another video wonder.

I give you, "The Mystery of the Annoying Turning Signal"

Cheers!
